Standard Day Tank with Open 150% Top Containment Basin
UTRS Series 2 GPM supply pump
Tank and Control Description:
Tramont UTRS RB Series diesel fuel tank is a steel rectangular tank with an open top fuel containment basin. Tramont System 2000Plus is an Electronic Control Module (ECM) featuring a microprocessor-based fuel level control and monitoring system. The ECM supervises all performance parameters of the day tank.
UL and National Standards:
Tramont UTRS Series dual wall day tanks are constructed in accordance with the following standards:
-
Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
-
Tank Standard – UL 142 Steel Aboveground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids (UL Listed under File MH13710)• ECM Standard
-
UL 508 Industrial Control Equipment (UL Listed under File E116902)
-
NFPA 30 – Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code
-
NFPA 37 – Standard for Installation and use of Stationary Combustible Engine and Gas Turbines
-
NFPA 110 – Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems
Construction:
Tank is pressurized at 3 psi and leak checked to ensure integrity of weld seams per UL 142 standards prior to shipment. Tanks are constructed of heavy gauge steel. The tank design has been tested extensively under conditions far in excess of normal use. The open top 150% containment basin is leak checked through the application of zyglow to the interior of the containment tank.
In addition, tanks are pressure washed with an iron phosphate solution and then finished with an acrylic primer and gray enamel paint (additional colors available). Tank interior is coated with a solvent-based rust preventative.
Standard Tramont UTRS Series day tanks feature:
-
Emergency pressure relief vent cap – Insure adequate venting and pressure relief inner tank under extreme temperature and emergency conditions.
-
Atmospheric vent cap accommodates normal venting – Accommodates normal venting (oversized 2” vent)
-
Leak detection switch – Top mounted, annunciates a contained fuel leak at ECM control panel
-

Weather Protective Day Tank with Containment Basin
UTRS Series 2 GPM supply pump and 4 GPM reverse pump, includes AC solenoid valve and fuel strainer
Tank and Control Description:
Tramont UTRS RB Series diesel fuel tank is a steel rectangular tank with a sealed fuel containment basin.
-
Tank Standard – UL 142 Steel Aboveground Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids (UL Listed under File MH13710)
-
ECM Standard – UL 508 Industrial Control Equipment (UL Listed under File E116902)
-
NFPA 30 – Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code
-
NFPA 37 – Standard for Installation and use of Stationary Combustible Engine and Gas Turbines
-
NFPA 110 – Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems
Construction:
Inner and outer tank is pressurized at 3 psi and leak checked to ensure integrity of weld seams per UL 142 standards prior to shipment.
-
Emergency pressure relief vent cap – Insures adequate venting and pressure relief inner and outer tank under extreme temperature and emergency conditions.
-
Atmospheric vent cap accommodates normal venting – Accommodates normal venting (oversized 2” vent)
-
Leak detection switch – Top mounted, annunciates a contained fuel leak at ECM control panel
-
2 GPM supply pump and 4 GPM reverse pump each with 1/3 HP, 115 VAC, 60 Hz thermally protected motor
-
Electric solenoid valve with 100 mesh fuel strainer – maintains prime in return (reverse) fuel line to main tank

Local Code Approval Options
Option Packages for Day Tanks
Most of the United States uses the guidelines as set forth by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) as the installation standard that governs tank products for flammable and combustible liquids. Some local governments exercise the “Authority Having Jurisdiction” status and have created their own requirements (in addition to NFPA) for installation of flammable and combustible liquid storage tanks.
Tramont Corporation, the nation’s leading designer and manufacturers of UL listed diesel fuel control and UL listed containments systems, supplies more of these systems than anyone in the industry, and is your authority on these national guidelines and local code approvals.
To assist in the specification of your fuel containment system we offer Local Code Approval option packages to ensure your fuel containment system can be specified and be in compliance regardless of its ultimate destination. We have listed examples of some of the local code option packages that satisfy these requirements. If your area is not listed, simply ask your Tramont account representative, your authority on national and local codes.
